Greetings,
I am trying to get a new Yahoo group up and running and I was hoping
you would consider joining the discussion. It is the only Yahoo group
of its kind so far as I know. Here is a brief description: The purpose
of this group is to discuss issues in philosophy of religion from a
continental perspective. Topics might include such issues as the
intersection of religion and politics, how continental philosophy of
religion differs from traditional and analytic philosophy of religion,
the overcoming of ontotheology, the death of God, the question of hope
in the face of radical evil, ethics of responsibility, etc. These
issues might be adressed from any number of the following perspectives:
phenomenology (Edmund Husserl, Martin Heidegger, Edith Stein, Max
Scheler, Emmanuel Levinas, Mircea Eliade; Jean-Luc Marion);
philosophical hermeneutics (Paul Ricoeur, Hans-Georg Gadamer, Friedrich
Schliermacher, Rudolph Bultmann); deconstruction (Jacques Derrida, John
Caputo); existentialism (Jean Paul Sartre, Soren Kierkegaard, Gabriel
Marcel, Karl Jaspers, Miguel de Unamuno; Friedrich Nietzsche; Paul
Tillich). Other perspectives (e.g. Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze,
Rene Girard, Immanuel Kant, GWF Hegel, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Herman
Dooyeweerd, Max Weber, Theodor Adorno, Jurgen Habermas, Slavoj Zizek,
Gianni Vattimo, Richard Rorty, Gustavo Gutierrez, etc.) are also
welcome. Finally, anyone from any religious tradition (or not) is
encouraged to contribute to discussion.
