Free speech not necessary for free trade! |
Throughout history explorers, merchants and traders have dealt(traded)
with people foreign to them, people with whom they did not even have a
common language. The two parties could not communicate in speech, yet
they traded freely! Animal hides for a metal knife, an island for some
beads, the entire west for a few cases of firewater. The trade occured
without the benefit of spoken communication, which means that free
speech could not have existed between the parties!
IT'S THE OTHER WAY AROUND FOLKS: FREE TRADE EVENTUALLY ENABLES FREE
SPEECH!!
The desire for a mutually beneficial transaction is what enabled free
trade, not free speech! And free trade it was - why? - Because
inequitable transactions occured! People could fail or reap a windfall
-no government intervention to enforce "fairness" - it was true "Free
Trade".
FREEDOM INCLUDES THE FREEDOM TO FAIL.

They were still communicating otherwise it would be impossible for the
first translator to learn any foreign languages.

You are contradicting Ayn Rand.

True, but is all communication free speech? Free trade can occur
without free speech.

Well, then, just like you she's wrong too. Historically, commerce has
always driven other freedoms. Look what commerce is doing to the
Commies in China. Within a few generations they'll all be fattened by
McDonalds, have their brains deadened by MTV and throw off the yoke of
Red slavery! They'll be free to spurt whatever babble their weakened
minds could cogitate.
