FSA moves over retail access to hedge funds

hedge fundsRetail investors will be able to invest in UK hedge funds
with regulatory protection for the first time under plans put forward
yesterday by the Financial Services Authority.
The move marks the growing acceptance of hedge funds as mainstream
investments, having previously been seen as exotic and possibly
dangerous instruments. It comes amid explosive growth in hedge funds
and investor demand for more flexible products that can offer returns
regardless of whether markets rise or fall.
