Not quite the Western Way, is it?
I think perhaps "humiliating" is the oldest strain here, what with
Aristocles and his division between the ideal and the real, between the
immortal soul and its prison, the shackles of dust that is our body. All
things that awaken the soul, or the mind, to the needs of the body, is
debasing.
What makes us laugh, is funny. To see people do something debasing makes us
laugh, particularly if they have distance to fall, i.e. if they are
authority figures, elevated in the eyes of someone we distance ourselves
from. In the opposite case, it is not risible, but painful to watch. Perhaps
this is what you had in mind when posting this: giving people a glimpse of
themselves? To make people smile at themselves, those who can, never mind
those who can't and are rewarded with a brief stab of shame and guilt?
"Sexuality is the implementation of a process" is also quite interesting.
Sexuality is not an act, not even an act of gratifying desire, not to
mention a joyous act of self-expression, celebrating life, love and
happiness, etc. ... Perhaps the Pagans were on to a better thing there.
Most interesting of all: The jump from "nude (pic)" to "sexuality" without
any intermediate steps.
Why are they equivalent? How are they equivalent here? Any thoughts?

asking whether sex is ridiculous and humiliating ...

sex from my experience at two different times,
sort of like a television, turn it on one minute and
again later and unless you know what's on you

You can do better than that. The macro-stuff of genitalia is also the
conduct for urine and menses,
so the genitalia themselves deliver fluids both reproductive and excrescent;
no need to bother those asses.
Proximity to the ***** doesn't make anything ridiculous. The upper thigh is
just as close, but does not occur in any great number of jokes. We never say
"Leg, how hilarious" instead of "*****, that's funny".

This is actually a good issue. The primate folk often promote the
casting of models of what it is to be a 'human' in young primate folk.
That model often does not include functions that are there
by genetic structure. We've been talking about self deception
here. This can be another dimension of that self deception
supported by the culture and other inherited legacies.
The dissonance between the self
models and the structural presence can produce unease
or "kind of funny" as you say.
Lies have prices.

jobs are going to other countries. The Japanese!
The Japanese! They're buying up our country!"
That seems so quaint now.

It is the common consensus that NAFTA created
jobs here in the US. I'm sure that could be some
conspiracy on the part of the "corp *****" media
and all, just like everything else, but I find that dubious.

You've got NAFTA all wrong. It lost jobs for Americans.
Yes Clinton supported NAFTA as did Bush I. We were
called the radical middle because we supported campaign
finance reform, govt. accountability, all of the populist issues
especially deficit reduction which is why Clinton was able
to do that. Without Perot, it would never have been an
issue as it is not now and our deficits are growing faster
than ever... a shame. It doesn't seem quaint to me. You
seem arrogant and uninformed. And I'm not that easily
baited.
