Object: Hello & Hegel on state
Hello!
I intended to check out this group for some time now, but somehow I
never came to it. Now's the perfect oportunity (later about that).
Well: me is a college student (law), 20, from Slovenia. I always liked
philosophy classes, though I'm not really educated in this field. When
I was little kids always called me "the philosopher"; I guess it's
because I knew some heavy words back then, and always liked to debate
on things that others percieved as natural.
Anyway... I'm having the theory of law exam in 2 weeks, and I have to
learn some basic views on the state. The part about Hegel is very
short, and tries to explain the world to the reader. Well, to me it's
complete gibberish. I try to make sense of terms like "objective
dialectics", "objective, subjective, absolute spirit", "dialectic
triads", "conscious self", "naturgeist",... and concepts like the
movement of reality and similar.
Oh, and sorry for wrong translations... the book is in slovene.
Could anyone please give me a short 101 on Hegel and/or point me to
some good source on the net?
Thanks in advance,
Tine

i am not familiar with his works in their entirety but i do know
something about him........he was a great admirer of kant might
establish a clew....he is also i recall is credited with the founding
of the philosophy of religion and some other philosophical disciplines
(sorry don't know these) his dialectic explores the meaning of reality
as a process (conversation/discourse) he believed that conversation
was the very nature of mind....there is most likely more to this than
i have indicated but its all i can recall at the moment........one
other......."what is this world but the image of reason"? may sum him
up......somewhat.

Allo. I'm aphilosopher. I dont now Hegel. I think he the words he used was
quite unnecessary. You see I was going to buy a philosphy dictionary but
then something else happened. Don't let the same thing happen to you. Thats
all I'm saying. Nudge nudge.
