My Reincarnation Fantasy |
There is a new movie about the attempted assassination of der fuerher,
July 20, 1944, my birthday.
The movie is not expected to do big box office, despite the star Tom
Criuise and the director &/or producer Robert Redford.
In Wikipedia, i came across this list of the alleged plotters,
reportedly most were tortured and executed that same day on which I
was born at approximately 2:30 pm eastern time,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_members_of_the_July_20_plot
I know little about reincarnation; and have no evidence or proof of my
personal reincarnation, or that reincarnation is reality, and am
advised by a knowledgable "psi" student (via this group) who studies
some of the claims/cases (Bridey Murphy etal) and apparently perceives
they're all b.s.
Anyhow, I coulda been (or could be reborn as) a kitty, or an insect,
or a blah, or a bluh anyway.
So, this has been fantasy not a conviction, perhaps semi conjecture.
Wikipedia is really sumthin, and the article on the assassination plot
is velly interesting, and I' ll probably wait for the movie to make it
to HBO.
And a philosophy excuse for the posting?
Well, meta-physics.

You take one person's claim as truth?
Why do YOU not study the claims and cases and decide for yourself if YOU
consider they are *****.
Everyone can put their own slant on things according to what they want to
believe.
And everyone will only ever believe according to their own personal
experience and their own likes and dislikes and their own taste.
And indeed their own logic and intelligence.

I do respect the very well-informed students and scholars about the
phenomena of psi."
That doesn't men I'm able or willing to completely foreclose the
possibilities, while C knew about whatever I could throw at him; and
years ago I was sorta into psychic stuff and actually went to a seance
circa 1968-70.
I'm recalling:
Jesse Stearn books
FATE MAGAZINE (the "fickle finger of fate" as parodied by LAUGH-IN)
Long John Nebel radio
Peter Hurkos, a Dutch housepainter who supposedly fell off a ladder
and...became psychic
Nostradamus, a very big deal then
Jeanne Dixon, a very big deal then
The woman or women who tip police about crime scenes
and dramatized cases/stories (or perhaps mere bottomline junque) on tv
of beaucoup psi claims, reincarnations,
I suppose that nearly everybody has been interested in the stuff
paranormal, supernatural, life after death, metaphysics
There are at least a few gutsy philosophy teachers/professors whom are
apparent strong believers in the possibility(ies), and they have
apparently somehow been able to hold academic tenure, though at
lunchtime they may sit at the kook table
i don't completely discount the stuff.

It is extraordinary though - that if a person does have a belief - they can
"gloss over" or ignore evidence - so that people like you will agree with
them. If they fundamentally think reincarnation is b.s. - it is amazing
what they can find to support their opinion. The opposite is also true -
that if you believe in reincarantion it is amazing what you can find to
support this opinion.
I have read overhwelming evidence from many intelligent people - not just
one person - and I have my own memories and experience that prove to me
there is no question that reincarnation is fact.

It is amazing how people that do believe in these kinds of things do warrant
the title "the kook table" and yet those who are mercenary - selfish -
vain - materialistic - oh how well they fit in with "normal" human society.

Interesting to discover that Stephen Hawking was born 300 years to the day ,
of the death of Iisac Newton, and sits in the same chair at Oxford.(without
the wheels of course !!!)

Do you have much proof about your current incarnation?
Anyhow, I coulda been (or could be reborn as) a kitty, or an insect,
or a blah, or a bluh anyway.
Not to convinced about your progress then ???
So, this has been fantasy not a conviction, perhaps semi conjecture.
Acknowledging even the possibiliy of reincarnation opens up a whoie portal
of realization. Everything starts to make sense. Other that that, conjecture
wrapped in a enigmatic paradox, expendinfg mega energy chasing tails in the
curvature of spaceand time.

This Wikipedia article does not seem to be very complete. The group
that carried out the attempt met at Werner Heisenberg's house, on many
occasions and just before the attempt.

Perhaps the most respected study on the scientific evidence for or
against reincarnation is "Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation" by
Ian Stevenson, M.D. (recently deceased) of the University of Virginia.
Here's a bit about that book:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty_Cases_Suggestive_of_Reincarnation
And a link to the book at Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/Twenty-Cases-Suggestive-Reincarnation-Enlarged/dp/0813908728/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1196695673&sr=8-1
Here's a bit about Dr. Stevenson:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Stevenson
I like Dr. Stevenson's use of the term "suggestive," since, as with
the "Near Death Experience," the scientific evidence clearly shows a
*phenomenon* that is worthy of study, but it does not (yet, at least)
rise to the level of proof. That is to say, there remain multiple
ways of explaining the data in each case.
Good luck!
