THEY say that in life you get what you deserve. Well, today America has
deservedly got a lawless cowboy to lead them further into carnage and
isolation and the unreserved contempt of most of the rest of the world.

We always had that contempt, at least for everything except our money.
Europe has enjoyed sneering at the US for generations, our lack of culture,
our lack of appreciation for their undoubted superiority, our crudeness and
naivete.
Don't take it too seriously! Much of the world would vote with their feet
if we could absorb them all. The Europeans feel upstaged and don't like it,
so they lash out.
It's true we make foreign policy mistakes. European history is far too
messy for them to be throwing stones, except perhaps for Switzerland.
England viciously holding on to conquered territories like Scotland,
Northern Ireland and Wales shouldn't be bragging. (Not to mention the
Falklands).

This is such a childish response. I have the dubious privalege of an American
passport but choose to live in the UK, despite the cold and the rain.

THis shows your basic and gross ignorance of British politics. The other
nations of the UK have been offered independance. Wales voted for it by a
50.04% for. They have their own assembly, Northern Ireland have NEVER wanted
either independance nor union with southern Ireland, they are working to have a
devloved parliamnt but wish to stay with the rest. Scotland is a little more
independant minded and their parliamnent is the most powerful outside
Westminster.
But - I feel you need to mention the Falklands. NOT ONE SINGLE FALKLANDER
wants to leave the UK. It has been a great burden to the UK has has cost the
lives of many soldiers to keep the Falklanders free from the Argentinian
tyrrany..
Before you spout off - know your facts!!!

This seems a flat lie. Starting around 1170, the English, and some Welsh
invaded Ireland and, under Henry II, established baronies all across
Ireland. These were usually heavily fortified because the Irish DID NOT
want to be part of the English kingdom, this applies to both North and South
Ireland. In the ensueing years the English have so heavily settled English
Protestants on Northern Irish land that they now outnumber the Irish. Of
course if you poll that area most inhabitants say they don't want
independence, the English Protestants would be a minority then.
Scotland is a little more

independant minded and their parliamnent is the most powerful outside
Westminster.

The Falklanders are invaders, or, more properly, the descendents of
invaders. Of course they don't want to leave. The Americans who live on
the lands we took from the Modoc Indians don't want to leave either. The
descendents of those who invaded and conquered weaker people never want to
leave. The Britsh didn't want to leave India, the French didn't want to
leave Vietnam. Sometimes the indigenes succeed in forcing out European
conquerors, sometimes, as with the Indians of North America they do not.
My point was and is, the Europeans are in no position to throw stones at the
US about the morality of waging war on outsiders. But they do it anyway and
it is hypocritical.
