Object: Shoe bomber: Is someone sabotaging Bush's campaign?
Is there someone in the Bush administration that is able to
convince people to announce that a conspirator of the 2001
shoe bomber has been arrested? Is that the best they can do
to come up with a scare after the first
These facts about the case were considered important enough
in the attempted shoe bombing case to be included by the
Attorney General in a news conference:
Saajid Mohammed Badat
The 7 counts in the indictment:
use of weapon of mass destruction against
US citizens while US citizens were outside the US
Apparently the weapon of mass destruction was the
shoe bomb. Perhaps it could be argued that the shoe
bomb would be used to make the pilots fly the plane
into a building, but he was arrested while trying to light
his shoe.
So is someone trying to make President Bush look ridiculous
by calling a shoe bomb, a weapon of mass destruction, and
announcing the indictment of a conspirator in a shoe bombing
attempt from 3 years ago, while the accused has already been
in custody for almost a year.
Ashcroft praised the Patriot Act for its use in this case.
He also thanked the following in the weapon of mass destruction
shoe bombing case:
Lord Peter Godsmith, Great Britain's Attorney General
Richard Widahm, prosecuting counsel
Detective Chief Inspector, John McBrain and his investigative
team Scotland Yard Anti-terrorism Branch
Chris Ray, asst. attorney general
Michael Sullivan, district attorney for the district of Massachusetts
Badat had already been indicted in the UK for the same crime.
