As Salaamu Alykum to all.
RAMADAN 1426 AH IS EXPECTED TO START ON THE DAY OF WED 05 OCT 2005 CE
FOR MOST OF THE WORLD, INSHALLAH.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE HILAL (CRESCENT MOON) OF RAMADHAN 1426 AH
TO BE VISIBLE ON THE EVENING OF MON 03 OCT 2005 CE FROM ANYWHERE IN THE
WORLD.
HENCE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR RAMADAN 1426 AH TO BEGIN ON TUE 04 OCT 2005 CE
FOR ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.
Ramadan 1426 CE for North America (USA and Canada) [along with most of the
countries in the Central and Southern Hemisphere] is expected (most
probable)
to start from the Day of Wed 05 Oct 2005 CE, with worldwide sightings of
the Hilal on the previous evening of Tue 04 Oct 2005 CE, inshallah.
For USA and Canada, the Hilal would "MOST PROBABLY" be sighted in the South,
South-Central and Western USA on the evening of Tue 04 Oct 2005 CE, in which
case
Ramadan, for USA and Canada, would start on the day of Wed 05 Oct 2005 CE.
Please look at updates on these webpages and elsewhere for the latest
information.
Please note that any Solar Eclipse occuring on the same date as an
Astronomical New Moon date does NOT automatically imply that a Hilal
will not be seen on that evening. The cross-reference between the Gregorian
and
the Islamic dates (MOST PROBABLE) is as follows, inshallah:

This is a perfectly appropriate group for this type of posting. It's
totaly wrong to stigmatize an entire religion because of the actions of
a few fanatics. Haven't we learned anything from the 20th century?
Haqven't we learned anything from the Catholic Inquisition of the 15th
and 16th centureies? I won't even start on the Crusades. If we want to
continue sharing this world, and maintaining human existence here,
mutual tolerance coupled with mutual condemnation of murderous
fanatics is a prime directive.

Well, it's astronomy related; so over in sci.astro.amateur I appreciate
it. Possibly others interested in astronomy or optics also appreciate
the posts?
But the most interesting thing I find in your comment is the apparent
belief that any of these newsgroups are "American." They are world-wide
newsgroups and in no way American - all are equally welcome. Hence your
observation re "most Americans" seems rather misplaced.

Or rather, irrelevant.
And unproven.

Is that a problem? After all, the majority of Americans don't even read
sci.astro.amateur ....
