For those of us here in sci.physics, why he posted here is also a
mystery.
Perhaps he confused comp.os.linux.advocacy and sci.plysics with
k12.kids.stupid posts. He appears to do that with some frequency.
Perhaps it happens when he is off his meds?

Instead of getting mad ,
Why not get an ISP and a news client
so you can score messages and then sort on that ?
By the way , I take no meds , Nor have I ever done so .
Your comment prompts me to ask this question :

Unfortunatly thats not true. Each news group has a topic such
as sci.physics discusses the science of physics. If you DO want to be
on a sytem where your logic is true. telnet into my bbs and login to
the general forums, system is free to all via telnet or dialup.

There may be similar forums on usenet, there are thousands for

Hi T.J. ,
In Comp.OS.Linux.Advocacy I made a joke about switching
my career to become a cosmetologist .
( Instead of a cosmologist )
Only I misspelled the word career ,
writing " Carrier " instead .
Then I started joking about my new aircraft carrier .

Hmmm. Two or three weeks ago that was a B-17. Now it's evolved into
a larger, more capable B-17. So if we wait long enough, this airplane
of yours will continue to grow, passing through stages as a B-47, then
a B-52, and finally reaching equilibrium as a B-2 stealth bomber?

Geez , That's almost two football fields ,
that's a big ship .

If you were to list "English Units" (which now mean "American Units"),
you would have to include the "football field" under length -- it
comes in handy between "yard" and "mile".
According to
<http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/football/football_field.gif>
a football field is 360' long, so your estimate of ship size is a
little generous: thats "It's longer than a football field!" to the
standard tabloid signficant single digit. Unless, that is, you want
to use the "rffl" or reduced football field length (pronounced
"raffle"), chopping off the end zones, at 300'. In that case your
comment is accurate, and good marketing, because we always want to
cram as many football fields as possible in!
A football field area (ffa) is 57600 sq.ft., or somewhat over an acre
(43,560 sqft). If you knock out the end zones, a rffa (reduced ffa,
pronounced "riffa") is 48,000 sq. ft. _Still_ signficantly over an
acre, but obviously _intended_ to be an acre; I mean: 1.1 acres ...
that's almost accurate to two signficant figures! How much accuracy
do you want!?
Although objects of national pride like aircraft carriers, are
conventionally measured in football field length units, the flight
decks are measured in acres; maybe to avoid confusion in Joe Football.
"Commissioned in 1989, the USS Abraham Lincoln dimensions are usually
given in football fields (more than three end to end) and acreage
(4.5-acre deck surface)."
<http://www.motortrend.com/features/travel/112_0105_abe/>
Four and one half acres!? That more than four football fields, man!
So how about it: Saturday night has come and gone. Did you sight tj?

Hi Edward Green ,
Re: T.J.'s 500 foot ice breaker coming to Seattle ,
You ask ,
" Saturday night has come and gone .
Did you sight T.J. ? "
Unlike the father of my life-long friend , Dawson Harvey ,
who has a nice penthouse in a high rise that
overlooks the Space Needle and the bay ,
I am sequestered too far inland to see the harbor ,
So I don't know .
Dawson does enjoy tracking ships as they come and go ,
but I don't think I'll call him .
I might see T.J. this coming Tuesday .
P.S. The area of a U.S. football field ,
without the end zones , is 1.1 acres ?
And the surface of the 1989 USS Abraham Lincoln
aircraft carrier has 4.5 acres
and is over three football fields long ?
Thanks , I've wondered about those dimensions
for a long time now .
( P.P.S. USS stands for United States Ship )

I'm happy to alleviate your curiousity. ;-)
I actually never really stopped to ask myself how big a football field
is, as many times as I've read "as long as X football fields". I bet
most people mean "100 yards", even though the regulation field is 120
yards long, so we get bigger numbers ... like screens measured
diagonally.

We have more than just one dino sleeping in logs. We found one .
These logs were home to many things and are 4 million years old. UP TO
..<
some are 1 myo and some are 100000 years old. Nice shape ,,still good
wood.
Yanking a few million bucks up with a ship is easy .
Yanking up 200,000,000 usd in a week should rattle heads.
Remeber the logs I set to drift 4 years ago ??
I got one back.
It got on and off a few beaches.
I dropped it in the bering strait.
It went to the north pole under the ice .
And you have no idia how much junk is allong the arctic shores.
Ships ,,you name it. ussr left 1200 usa left 200
uk left 150 norway left 3000 ...germany left 60
OPPS it is a B 17.
But its still worth 50 mil.
I might go drag the entire ship to seattle.

You want one 10 x 100 foot rotting redwood log

How do I drag the log to the saw mill ?
Do you want me to finance this expedition myself ?

*****. Just look at the amount of metal you could have for the price
of a used Rolls.
Oddly, I had a fantasy of owning such a thing when I was in the Navy
.... an ocean going vessel, but maybe a little smaller: you know, rich
people own cars and planes, and some own yachts, but not many seem to
own real boats, if you know what I mean, though they could probably
have and run them for the same price, or less. I'd settle for an
ocean going tug: they are pretty ship/shape. In the navy that's one
command which can be held by a CPO: in fact that must be about the
best enlisted man's billet in the navy; skipper of your own ocean
going small craft.
Hmm... don't quite believe tj's rich fantasy world, but begin to have
an inkling of where he might get some of his knowledge. Is that you,
tj: navy shipmaster?
