UNI
Friday, August 5, 2005
Indraprasth, Aug 5 (UNI) - The Government has instituted
two National Research Fellowships--Ramanujan Fellowship
and J C Bose Fellowships--to give a boost to scientific
research in the country.
The Ramanujan Fellowships were meant to attract
outstanding scientists and engineers from all over the
world to take up scientific research positions in the
country, Union Minister for Science and Technology and
Ocean Development Kapil Sibal said at a press conference
here today.
There would be a bank of such fellowships which would be
operated by the Department of Science and Technology. The
Fellowships were scientist-specific, very selective and
would have close academic monitoring.
The fellowship would entail a stipend Rs 50,000 per
month. In addition, each fellow would receive a
contingency grant of Rs five lakh per annum. The term of
the fellowship would initially be for five years and the
fellows could work in any of the institutions and
universities in the country.
For those, who continue as fellows after a period of
three years, the fellowship value would be increased to
Rs 60,000 per month for the last two years. The Ramanujan
Fellows would be eligible for regular research grants
from various Science and Technology agencies.
The availability of Ramanujan Fellowships would be
advertised in order to receive nominations from
institutions or applications of individuals through the
host institutions.
All areas of science (in the broadest term) would be
covered by this fellowship scheme. Selections of
Ramanujan fellows would be made periodically by a Search
and Selection Committee specially appointed for the
purpose.
The J C Bose National Fellowships were meant to recognise
active, performing scientists and engineers in the
country who were below the age of 60 years.
The Department of Science and Technology would administer
the fellowship scheme. The fellowships were scientist
specific, very selective and would have close academic
monitoring.
The J C Bose fellows would be provided a fellowship of Rs
20,000 per month in addition to their regular income.
A contingency fund of Rs five lakh per annum would be
provided towards conference participation and other
expenses. The fellowship would be for a term of five
years initially. The availability of J C Bose Fellowships
would be advertised to receive nominations.
All areas of science (in the broadcast term) would be
covered.
Selection of fellows would be made periodically by a
Search and Selection Committee appointed for the purpose.

The terrorist mission of Jesus stated in the Christian bible:
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not so send
peace, but a sword.
"For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the
daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in
law.
"And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
