Object: A Needle Accelerator
I was bored and tired to figure out how to make the lowly needle
accelerate. A sliver of metal to cause to fly.
I do not do things simple. So the idea is to cause it to magetize in
the fashion of the three dimensional field. Then fly it out like a one
dimensional body.
I am so sorry. The forces decompose. A three dimensional field is not
the one. So sorry.
So a point field is to cause the source of power. A short intense
transient is to be the magnetized needle.
Place the coils correctly and the transform as the field is applied to
cause the field and to accelerate.
So here is th efast outline.
Place two coils nice coils, wound forms, above and below the needle.
Here is the kick.
Figure the pulse power of the right frequency to cause the needle to
fly!
This is a puzzle for some people.
Hint: The power of the coil is related to the pulse decay. Sad reality
is to appear for the experimenter.

The X's represent the coil turned 90 degree to the needle.
The W's denote the second coil.
In inch diameter coils of 20 guage wire.
It is not the old style of railgun or coil gun, this is a new style!
A certain trick is required of the power function and to cause it to
transform is the job of the power supply.
So here goes make this power function:
1. Spin the needle with constant dc current to magnetize. A good needle
mount will literally have 360 degree turning ability.
2.Apply the ac to the top coil only! And it flys out of the spinner!
So intuition can be hard to come by in the fancy needler design I came
up with. A ten amp 12 volt constant power to magnetize, then a top
coil's AC function is added at ten volts.
So the top coil has the AC sine wave on top of the DC current. What is
the proper frequency?

100khz at 10 volts peak to peak fires the needle. a short 1 millisecond
time allows
a cheap power supply.

I will study the links given, it is always a nice thing to find a good

Thanks for the links. Maglev motors are the related idea. Because it
is not to be accelerated for more than a second, a magnetic transient
field on the needle is used. That is a opposed to the constant field
of the maglev train's rail.
So the needle becomes magnetized then flys off.
