Probable Influence/Causation (PI) Theory does not require an isotropic
Universe, and in fact the same philosophy which makes it relatively
uninterested in means or expectations compared to pointwise or
stringwise or branewise Individual analysis suggests that the Universe
has nonisotropic aspects since each direction of expansion/contraction
is studied separately rather than averaged (or ignored) in PI.
Now along come Richard A. Battye and Adam Moss of Jodrell Bank
Observatory, University of Manchester, U.K., in "Anisotropic
perturbations due to dark energy," astro-ph/0602377 v1 16 Feb 2006, who
point out that various observational tests suggest that the Universe is
anisotropic and that rotational invariance needn't be assumed if Dark
Energy has elastic rigidity. They suggest point symmetry domain wall
network with P/rho = -2/3 for Bravais lattices with cubic symmetry.
They assume Nambu-Goto walls.
The paper of Battye and Moss should be relatively accessible to most
readers since it is only 4 pages long. They also have 5 references to
other papers of themselve and a reference to a paper by Steinhardt,
papers by Magueijo, papers by M. Tegmark, T. Jaffe, M. Bucher, S.
Perlmutter, etc.
