The reason there are 2 electrons per *orbital*
is because they backdraft each other.

If all pathways were equally possible, then space must be
absolutely uniform.
Since it isn't, then there will always be preferred
pathways for electrons to take.
Add to this that their passage in turn
changes that part of space, and classical
orbitals just have to be.
