Folks,
Why is it that people with the most grandiose ideas on these NGs (this
is the first and last time I crosspost) can't spell for toffee?
I mean, who is going to take any notice of someone claiming to
disprove E=Mc^2 when they can't spell "World Exclusive" correctly?
In the future, anyone who can't spell the damn title correctly should
be immediately ignored. There should be a "Zero Tolerance Approach to
Spelling and Grammar" on these NGs.
Pompously yours
TP
PS. Yes I deliberately misspelled a word in the title. Its called
irony. Look it up in the fucking dictionary.

Since there is a statistical chance that anyone could misspell the title,
some posts are bound to be canned in your filter. However, there are a few
here, Like PMB, who simply cannot spell or be bothered to use a spell
checker to save their lives. It should be noted that their physics ideas
are usually commensurate with their spelling. [[Spell check found 1 errors
in that sentence, in the word spelling! (reference irony!)]]

I don't know. Why do you think there is a 1-to-1 relationship between being
skilled in physics and remembering how certain words are spelled?
Seems to me that there are two possible reasons - (1) dyslexia/poor memory
etc and (2) poor education.

I mean, who is going to take any notice of someone claiming to

All the better for you then. Find the people who don't spell in the way that
you like and killfile them. It would be more productive than whining about
them like this. In fact this place would be much better if people used their
killfile more. In this case you seem like a good candidate for my own

I don't know.

Usually, "I don't know" would be a statement of an intelligent man. In your
case it is simply the irreversible truth.

Why do you think there is a 1-to-1 relationship between being
skilled in physics and remembering how certain words are spelled?

You have shown repeatedly that this is the case.

Seems to me that there are two possible reasons - (1) dyslexia/poor memory

Dyslexia can cause this trouble, and I guess poor memory is a reason for
forgetting how to use a spell checker.
Are those your excuses?

etc and (2) poor education.

Is that you excuse as well, Mr. BS in physics?

How would you know? He killfiled both mike varney and me, but
you can see how that didn't translate into anything that would
give it away from just reading the newsgroup. Had he not told me

I just assumed otherwise, since I keep getting responses. What if

Hey Brown, I make out your spelling errors to average at least 3-4 per post.
We all make spelling errors, but you do not even try to correct yours.
Hell, it took you several months to correct spelling error I pointed out in

At least I understand the language of maths.

If you did, you'd realize that a postulate cannot be changed after it has
already been used or the conclusions will be nonsense. To prove that you do
not understand math, find error in this. But you'll ignore it as usual and
continue to bluster without being able to back up your claim.
Einstein defines x' = x-vt
Einstein takes x' to be infinitessimally small.
The Lorentz transforms, as given in "On the Electrodynamics of Moving
Bodies", are
tau = (t-vx/c^2) /sqrt(1-v^2/c^2)
xi = (x-vt)/sqrt(1-v^2/c^2)
eta = y,
zeta = z.
Any child learning algebra will agree that if
x' = x-vt
then
x = x' +vt,
When x' is infinitessimally small,
x' = 0+h as h tends to zero, hence,
x = h + vt, and v = dx/dt
If we substitute for x its value, then
xi = (h + vt-vt)/sqrt(1-v^2/c^2)
= h/sqrt(1-v^2/c^2)
= 0 in the limit of h tending to zero.
So, in time t, the displacement of x from the origin of the
'stationary' frame is nearly nothing = 0, hence
v = 0 for all v, t > 0, and not dx/dt, a contradiction and proof.
Applying our value we have found for v,
tau = (t - 0.x/c2)/sqrt(1-v^2/c^2)
= t.
Conclusion:
Einstein's version of the Lorentz transforms actually are:
xi = 0,
tau = t.
Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

A mathematical speller for you would surely crash due to exhaustion.

Pathetic comment from a moron that can only ignore a simple proof he doesn't
like. Sneer all you want to, imbecile. Anyone can see how stupid you appear
(except you, that is).

Honestly Paul, your spelling and grammar is sometimes just a little off and
quite forgivable because English is not your primary language, and
occasionally so is mine even though it is. But there really is no excuse for
Sirvent writing

As to the content,
"The VAV you refer to is not what is used" can only mean that c-v is not
used in
1/2[tau(0,0,0,t)+tau(0,0,0,t+x'/(c-v)+x'/(c+v))] = tau(x',0,0,t+x'/(c-v))
Maybe I should be taking the same drugs as the rest of you relativists so

I will repeat it very s-l-o-w-l-y so you can understand: c-v is not
the physical speed of an object, but the rate of variation of relative
distance among two objects (definition given by Dirk). The
relativistic transformation of velocities does ONLY apply to PHYSICAL
speeds and not to variation of relative distances among two objects.
Thus, your counter-argument is just trash.

Thus, your counter-argument is just trash.

Ok, so a photon isn't an object, so I'll call it a physical entity, since it
certainly isn't a chemical one.
Here I am, performing Einstein's 'experiment' with my car. Because it is an
experiment, we imagine there is no air. On the back of the car I'm following
there are some of those strange little red entities called reflectors.
I shine my headlights on them, and the entity that isn't an object hits then
and bounces back so that I can see the car in front. That is why we call
them reflectors.
Now, it takes time t1 = x/c for my light to reach the reflector, and time t2
= -x/-c to return, so I write an equation
1/2(t1+t2) = t1
But you are coming down the road in the opposite direction and pass me.
Now, give me an equation, very s-l-o-w-l-y, that describes what YOU see
happening to my headlights and explain it very carefully. Do not use the tip
of the ray as an object.
You are passing by me at v. You may assume all of the following can apply.
1) I am stuck in a traffic jam and have my brakes applied.
2) I am travelling relative to the road at v, and you are stuck in a traffic
jam.
3) Neither of us are stuck in a traffic jam.
4) You are going in the same direction as me, but passing,
5) I am passing you, going in the same direction
6) We are going in opposite directions and we are both stuk in traffic jams.
Choose your postulate, now, and stand by it. Do not attempt to change it.
Tell me what the speed of light is relative to the road, relative to you,
and relative to me. Use equations to prove each, very s-l-o-w-l-y.
At the end of this exercise I shall have a few choice words for you, and it
may be that I shall declare you a genius.... but I doubt that very much.
I will give you the opportunity to educate me.
ok... ready, steady....GO!

I will repeat it very s-l-o-w-l-y so you can understand: c-v is not
the physical speed of an object, but the rate of variation of relative
distance among two objects (definition given by Dirk).

almost :-)

The
relativistic transformation of velocities does ONLY apply to PHYSICAL
speeds and not to variation of relative distances among two objects.

It is more subtle than that, specially for a bigot like Androcles:

Thus, your counter-argument is just trash.

Well, I dropped the part of "for a system which sees the lightspeed to
be c", as it is *basically* the second postulate.

The
relativistic transformation of velocities does ONLY apply to PHYSICAL
speeds and not to variation of relative distances among two objects.

It is more subtle than that, specially for a bigot like Androcles:
http://groups.google.com/groups?&as_umsgid=401a53d6@usenet01.boi.hp.com

For subtle points, I would prefer my comment that it is AS IF we would
compose the velocities in a Galilean way. Conceptually you found it to
be a difficult issue. For me it is trivial, though in the reverse, you
said that the reciprocality of v (that observer S sees S' moving at S
and, THEREFORE, S' sees S moving with -v) in the 1905 paper was
trivial, when I did not see it as trivial - nor Einstein. Pauli made
the mistake of considering it trivial too.

Thus, your counter-argument is just trash.

Yeah but you fail to realize there's a difference between bad spelling and a typo.

Yes... there is. However, people like Brown constantly misspell certain
words, despite correction from other posters.
You would think that they could learn to use a spell checker.

No. Titan called for a zero tolerance approach to spelling and grammar, not
bad spelling or bad grammar. This means no spelling, good or bad, should
be tolerated. I can't agree with this, but any semblence of coherent

True. But I'm not the idiot claiming that Einstein is wrong because,
erm, Einstein is wrong and I'm right.
I did link the fact that grandiose propositions of the most
fantastical kind seem to be accompanied by bad spelling and worse
grammar.
If I DID have a theory that overturned Einstein, I'd make sure I typed
the fucking title correctly. That way the Nobel Prize Committee would
not reject my magnum opus because of my inability to type or use a
spell checker.
It's just a thought.
