BEAUTIFUL NEW EINSTEINS |
http://thechronicleherald.ca/Metro/837847.html
"LISA CRYSTAL HAS curly locks, a quizzical sparkle in her eyes and an
unwavering sense of wonder. And she's pretty darn smart, too. After
acing her way through an undergraduate degree at the University of
King's College, the 22-year-old scholar is off to do graduate work at
Harvard University this fall - on a full scholarship to study Albert
Einstein......"She and another student last year asked a couple of us
professors to put together a reading seminar on Einstein," Gordon
McOuat recalled during a recent interview, shortly after this year's
convocation at the Halifax university. "These two students went
through Einstein's original papers published in 1905 and they actually
had new insight into what Einstein was doing that I had never seen
before," said the contemporary studies and history of science
professor. "It was quite remarkable." Mr. McOuat, in layman's terms,
explained his passionate pupils together uncovered "SOMETHING TO DO
WITH THE SPEED OF LIGHT and how it was thought about in previous ways
of seeing the world."......What can one say but "Wow"?.....As for
Einstein, she said reading the legend's original works was an
inspirational experience. "They're brilliant," Ms. Crystal said. "I
don't think anybody else has made that type of change in the way we
understand the world." But perhaps there will be someone else. "She's
just so straightforward and curious about the world," Mr. McOuat said
of his young protege. "She'd always ask questions that were well
beyond where everybody else was." Mr. McOuat predicted any work she
produces - no matter what field it's in - will be nothing less than
revolutionary."

The point is that Master Tom Roberts is in trouble. As you may know,
Master Tom Roberts and all other relativity hypnotists have been
trying, for many years, to get rid of Einstein's false second
postulate, the principle of constancy of the speed of light, and build
Einstein's theory only on Einstein's first postulate, the principle of
relativity - see this for instance:
http://www.worldscibooks.com/physics/4114.html
So far all attempts have proved abortive for the following reason. As
you know, Einstein's science is based on aesthetics, not logic, and
therefore the attempts have to be illogical and also have to involve a
lot of aesthetics. Relativity hypnotists' attempts WERE illogical
indeed but the aesthetics was not enough. Generally, relativity
hypnotists are ugly people, both internally and externally. And now
this girl who is obviously beautiful both internally and externally
has uncovered "SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE SPEED OF LIGHT". Master Tom
Roberts suspects the girl will get rid of Einstein's false principle
of constancy of the speed of light in a way that is both illogical and
full of aesthetics and this will automatically make her the Albert
Einstein of our generation. Master Tom Roberts will automatically be
kicked out.

Einstein's theory only on Einstein's first postulate, the principle of

So far all attempts have proved abortive for the following reason. As

of constancy of the speed of light in a way that is both illogical and
full of aesthetics and this will automatically make her the Albert
Einstein of our generation. Master Tom Roberts will automatically be
kicked out.
Master Tom Roberts will certainly be kicked out but I am not sure
about another new Einstein - Master Lee Smolin:
http://www.disinfo.com/archive/pages/dossier/id461/pg1/index.html
"Penn State University professor and theoretical physicist Lee Smolin
has written some of the most provocative theories about cosmology and
theoretical physics in the 21st century. Once touted by Discover
Magazine as "the new Einstein", Smolin's contribution to a
cosmological Theory of Everything will redefine how you perceive time-
space and the grand evolution of the universe."
Apart from Master Lee Smolin, nobody in this world and in any other
world is able to combine the following three idiocies (other
hypnotists in Einstein criminal cult can only combine two idiocies):
http://books.guardian.co.uk/reviews/scienceandnature/0,6121,438833,00.html
"As he sees it, there are three principal strands of thinking on the
problem - his "three roads". One issues from a branch of physics known
as string theory, which views all particles as tiny vibrating strings
and which has been in the news for more than a decade as a potential
"theory of everything". Another is so-called "loop quantum gravity", a
theory that tries to build up the fabric of space out of tiny
geometrical loops. Smolin has himself made many significant
contributions in this field. Finally, the third road originates, oddly
enough, in the study of black holes. Each approach can already solve
some of the puzzles of quantum gravity, while continuing to stumble
over others. But if Smolin is right, these three strands complement
one another, and physicists will soon weave them together to complete
the revolution kicked off by relativity and quantum theory."
So, although Master Lee Smolin is not as beautiful as Lisa Crystal, he
may soon become the Albert Einstein of our generation and then Lisa
Crystal will also be kicked out, together with Master Tom Roberts. The
world of Einstein is cruel sometimes.

of seeing the world."......What can one say but "Wow"?.....As for
Einstein, she said reading the legend's original works was an
inspirational experience. "They're brilliant," Ms. Crystal said. "I
don't think anybody else has made that type of change in the way we
understand the world." But perhaps there will be someone else. "She's
just so straightforward and curious about the world," Mr. McOuat said
of his young protege. "She'd always ask questions that were well
beyond where everybody else was." Mr. McOuat predicted any work she
produces - no matter what field it's in - will be nothing less than
revolutionary."

What a lovely little story .. is there a point to it?
Master Tom Roberts will automatically be
Yes Lee Smolin is the new Albert Einstein of our generation (Lisa
Crystal and Tom Roberts just failed). His third road:
"Finally, the third road originates, oddly enough, in the study of
black holes."
is going to destroy the remnants of human rationality in a way
Einstein could not even imagine:
http://www.physorg.com/news101560368.html
"Case physicists Tanmay Vachaspati, Dejan Stojkovic and Lawrence M.
Krauss report in the article, "Observation of Incipient Black Holes
and the Information Loss Problem," that has been accepted for
publication by Physical Review D......"If you define the black hole as
some place where you can lose objects, then there is no such thing
because the black hole evaporates before anything is seen to fall in,"
said Vachaspati......"An outside observer will never lose an object
down a black hole," said Stojkovic. "If you are sitting outside and
throwing something into the black hole, it will never pass over but
will stay outside the event horizon even if one considers the effects
of quantum mechanics......The physicists are quick to assure
astronomers and astrophysicists that what is observed in gravity
pulling masses together still holds true, but what is controversial
about the new finding is that "from an external viewer's point it
takes an infinite amount of time to form an event horizon and that the
clock for the objects falling into the black hole appears to slow down
to zero," said Krauss, director of Case's Center for Education and
Research in Cosmology......If black holes exist in the universe, the
astrophysicists speculate they were formed only at the beginning of
time."
I think Lee Smolin need not combine the third road with the first two.
The third road is quite enough.

The problem is that Lee Smolin never says anything about the constancy/
inconstancy of the speed of light whereas Lisa Crystal and Tom Roberts
have extremely original ideas:
http://www.ukings.ca/kings_3672_11517.html
http://www.ukings.ca/kings_3870_11534.html : "She and another student
last year asked a couple of us professors to put together a reading
seminar on Einstein," Gordon McOuat recalled during a recent
interview, shortly after this year's convocation at the Halifax
university. "These two students went through Einstein's original
papers published in 1905 and they actually had new insight into what
Einstein was doing that I had never seen before," said the
contemporary studies and history of science professor. "It was quite
remarkable." Mr. McOuat, in layman's terms, explained his passionate
pupils together uncovered "something to do with the speed of light and
how it was thought about in previous ways of seeing the world."
http://www.iit.edu/~bcps/database/search.cgi/Roberts/T/Physics/:/frontend/faculty/faculty_web_page
http://groups.google.ca/group/sci.physics.relativity/browse_frm/thread/8034dc146100e32c?
Tom Roberts: "If it is ultimately discovered that the photon has a
nonzero mass (i.e. light in vacuum does not travel at the invariant
speed of the Lorentz transform), SR would be unaffected but both
Maxwell's equations and QED would be refuted (or rather, their domains
of applicability would be reduced)."
So Lisa Crystal and Tom Roberts still have some chances to become/
remain the Albert Einstein of our generation. But they will have to
develop their original ideas about the constancy/inconstancy of the
speed of light.

Sure, depending on the physical conditions of the measurement. It can

standard value for c). And this can happen even for an accelerated

Well to us, he wasn't Divine. That's a term only you use. Like

Nice words but let us be more specific. In 1911 Einstein advanced the
equation c'=c(1+V/c^2) showing how the speed of light varies with the
gravitational potential. In 1960 Einstein's 1911 equation was
confirmed by Pound and Rebka who proved experimentally that the
gravitational redshift obeys the equation f'=f(1+V/c^2). Finally, the
application of Einstein's equivalence principle shows that Einstein's
1911 equation c'=c(1+V/c^2), which is valid in the presence of a
gravitational field, in the absence of a gravitational field becomes
c'=c+v, where v is the relative speed of the light source and the
(accelerated) observer.
Now I say Einstein's 1911 equation c'=c(1+V/c^2) is CORRECT, it agrees
with experiment and so I expect you to define me as someting different
from a religious fanatic.
However Master Tom Roberts says Einstein's 1911 equation c'=c(1+V/c^2)
is WRONG, that is, Master Tom Roberts "chooses to adopt a belief
contrary to all experimental evidence", and I am curious to see how
you will define Master Tom Roberts.

This is where Poe turns into a lying *****, because Sagnac doesn't
agree with his crackpot theory and is in use daily in the form of
ring laser gyroscopes, the comprehension of which devices are
beyond Poe's simple mind. Rather like any preacher, he'd
prefer to believe rather than understand and spouts his vague
nonsense about "experiments". The time for experiments is over,
the technology of c+v is in place. Any so-called "contribution"
by thousands of scientists isn't worth one working ring-laser
gyroscope designed and built by a small team of engineers.

So Lisa Crystal and Tom Roberts still have some chances to become/
remain the Albert Einstein of our generation. But they will have to
develop their original ideas about the constancy/inconstancy of the
speed of light.
In fact, Lee Smolin did say something about the constancy/inconstancy
of the speed of light:
http://www.edge.org/discourse/fasterthanlight.html Lee Smolin:
"Moreover, it turns out they cannot in a world where light travels at
a speed which is independent of the observer. This is Einstein's
central discovery."
However Tom Roberts would reply: Independent? Not always, Smolin, not
always. You do not read what I teach:

Sure, depending on the physical conditions of the measurement. It can
also be less than "300000 km/s" (by which I assume you really mean the
standard value for c). And this can happen even for an accelerated
observer in a region without any significant gravitation (e.g. in
Minkowski spacetime).
Tom Roberts
Then suddenly the two hypnotists stop any discussion: this discussion
is too dangerous for Einstein criminal cult. For the moment the zombie
world believes that the speed of light could be variable for an
accelerated observer and constant for an inertial observer but in the
future....who knows....In any event, the two hypnotists will never
mention "speed of light" and "accelerated observer" simultaneously
again.

What a lovely little story .. is there a point to it?
Master Tom Roberts will automatically be
kicked out.
Tom Roberts's heroic attempts to show that relativity without
Einstein's false principle of constancy of the speed of light is
possible:

Mike wrote:
Unfortunately, you should know that this is not true, the spacetime
geometry of SR depends on the speed of light constancy, since c is
included in the metric in a special way, i.e. after assuming that it is
constant in all inertial FoRs.
Tom Roberts: That was true in Einstein's original derivation, but
modern derivations avoid this. It is true there is a confusion: we
denote the constant in Maxwell's equations as "c", and we denote the
invariant speed in the Lorentz transform as "c" -- this confusion is
historical and no longer implies they are really "the same thing";
there is, however, considerable experimental evidence that these two
usages of that symbol have the same numerical value to incredible
accuracy. IOW: if it is ultimately discovered that the photon has a
nonzero mass (i.e. light in vacuum does not travel at the invariant
speed of the Lorentz transform), SR would be unaffected but both
Maxwell's equations and QED would be refuted (or rather, their domains
of applicability would be reduced).
Mike:
If c varies, it is not Einstein's SR, [...]
Tom Roberts: Sure it is. It's just that a different set of postulates
are used to derive the same set of theorems. The interpretations, of
course, are unchanged. Same theorems and same interpretations => same
theory. IOW: physics is not locked in a time warp at 1905. Tom
Roberts
Mike:
It must be obvious that if this turns out to be the case, Einstein was
wrong. A variable c implies a much different world than suggested by SR
Tom Roberts: Which meaning of "c"???? -- see above. If in the speed of
light, this would merely indicate a falsification of Maxwell's
equations and QED, not SR.
Mike:
if one wants to look at the theory from a law-like perspective. But
even from the model-like perspective, the new theory would falsify
Einstein right in his postulates.
Tom Roberts: Sure. But the theory known as SR _today_ would remain.

[end of Tom Roberts' idiocies]
Einstein: "If the speed of light is the least bit affected by the
speed of the light source, then my whole theory of relativity and
theory of gravity is false."
Einstein again: "I consider it quite possible that physics cannot be
based on the field concept,i.e., on continuous structures. In that
case, nothing remains of my entire castle in the air, gravitation
theory included, [and of] the rest of modern physics."
