Conformity In Physics, A Critique of Prugovecki

Eduard Prugovecki (Ph.D. Princeton 1964) of the University of Toronto
was professor of physics there for 30 years and retired in 1997,
becoming Professor Emeritus and then resided at Lake Chapala, Mexico
until he passed away in 2003.
Prugovecki's analysis of Conformity in physics is unparalleled in its
accuracy except for one point: he blames the U.S. Military for the
post-WWII Conformity ultimately rather than more accurately the
Ingenious Imitator Materialists who sought personal gain and personal
"security" from the Military. One can no more blame Military (Science)
than one can blame Science for the errors of Materialists and Ingenious
Imitators.

last site has 53 pages, of which pages 29-53 of Notes and bibliography
are as valuable as the rest of the paper if not more so.
Readers of sci.physics will find familiar elitist and dogmatic and
exclusivist figures being described by Prugovecki, whose knowledge of
sociology and psychology should be surprising to them. He describes
the incredible reversal of physics before and after WWII in which the
Creative Genius which had characterized young physicists before WWII
passed from young to old physicists after WWII in general in the USA
and thence spread back to Europe, with the younger physicists now
taking the role of Ingenious Imitators or sometimes Mediocres in my
terminology and controlling Power by controlling publishing, peer
review, academic departments, funding including governmental research,
etc. Of course, some of those young elitists have become older but
usually not much wiser.
