You leave out some very important factors
such as efficiency and sales.
If I use fuel (Energy) more efficiently than you do,
chances are that my economic status will be better.
But another important factor comes into play,
Sales!
After you sell something
(A Boeing jet, a large building, a fleet of cars,
railroad cars, pet rocks, a TV series, etc.),
it is easy to find technical, clerical, and working people,
to do the grunt work.
Nothing happens until somebody sells something.

You may use fuel more efficiently than me no doubt. But even if it's so
would you outperform the thermodynamic limit of 100%? In that case you
prove me by far more efficient than anybody cause after all my war is
about admiting perpetuum mobile is possible and exists!
