Discussion - Possible traps and loopholes behind computer OS licensing. |
So far I have bought 3 computers, all of them have windows OS burnt into a
hidden
drive of the harddisk. As a result, whenever the harddisk fails, I lose the
OS also.
Isn't it true that the "lost OS" still have a legal life after the harddisk
is gone thus I am
legible to have a copy of this OS and reinstall on any ONE computer I find,
or that I
am legible to purshace another computer and produce the OS license of the
failed
computer and demand $200 rebate which is the price of the OS?
I am aware that the license said I may use it on one machine, thus it is our
right to run
it on a different machine when the original machine fails.

Evolution as operant concept is unwarranted optimism.

Operating Systems are typically large enough that they reside on
hard drives. You lose the hard drive, you must reinstall the OS
from external source.
