do any hedge funds use neural nets? |
Does anybody know the names of the hedge funds that try to use the most
scientifically advanced methods, such as neural nets, to make
investments or pick stocks? I know one of them is Renaissance Tech,
run by Jim Simons of Chern-Simons fame. But what are the others?

that is one of the most famous
but many use detailed models of expectation
that are learned over the market
using various functional learning algorithms
a good secret on finding these funds
is to keep a lookout
for OCaml and Lisp job listings in the industry

renaissance technologies
has run the most successful hedge fund for the past 15 years
it has outperformed competition
by around 10 percentage points per year
averaging around 30-40 percent annual returns

anything that makes money, this scum will use it. a mutual fund based on
astrology had beaten the S&P for a long time. i've seen a trader burn a
bagel everyday at 10 am. whatever.
they have the money. money is power. when they have power they can make, or
ruin others' life.
