Object: Earth as an energy source & sink
dear Physicists
An important thing that I had to clear my mind of is that of the energy
balance here on earth itself, so my question is :
1. Is it correct to generalize that KE, NucE, Heat that drives the
plant came from the earth ( as an E source) and that its final form
elctrical E can be discharge directly to earth or soil ( assuming no
load ) as part of the energy balance law ( earth as an E sink).
Some say that earth abosorbs electrons from space, if this true, then
it can be said the same for electrons coming from power lines short
circuiting to the earth or that of lightning.
from there I can make another conclusion that :
2. The earth is a big neutrally charged capacitor that electricity
coming to it one point will be counter acted or neutralized (
dissipated at that point)
but by law of E conserv. It will "discharge" electrons to the
distant plant, increasing currents inside the generator coils creating
counter magnetic fields forcing opposite torque to shaft.
Here it can be seen that the earth is sending energy which transforms
into different forms: recoverable - EME, KE and unrecoverable -Heat
..
Finaly material limits are reached and the plants explodes or break
down, restoring net E balance on the earth to zero.
3. is it correct to state that electrons are not really flowing but are
being re-distributed according to coulombic force like whats happening
in a van de graff generator. That's why earth it is seen to be
"conducting" the electrons.
4. Is it aslo correct that in the process of repulsion charges (in the
case of lightning return stroke) most of E is convertd to heat which
more readily absorb by the earth.
5. I know this can be sci-fi:
"That : an EME ( lightning ) or other energy forms has an equivalent
mass( by relativity theory), Earth is mass, [ either earth's mass is
relativistic or its velocity- my "idea" ] then the two mass
attracts, (by gravitational force), Earth releases counter E to the
lightning making net energy exchange to zero.(lightning is
absorbed)"]
I think this was Old man Einstein's last job which is to link
different forms of energy together.
I tried looking at wolframs physics to get answers but I found none
linking these forms of energies together even at the thermodynamics
section.
I'm using the above premises as the "purpose or reason" for using
a ground rod or ground rod beds." which is to provide a low
resistance path for earth to absorb the leakage ( short circuit to
ground) energy and of lightning energy.
I'm an electrical technician just trying to understand electrical
phenomenon in easier way.
Thanks for your patient reply.
