Where do you get your information? Einstein gave up religion as a
teenager and considered himself to be an agnostic. In fact, he once
said that to a Jesuit he would be considered an atheist. His idea of
God was not someone who cared about the petty affairs of men.
To Einstein it was the order and harmony of the universe.

I do not agree in that the ideas of religion are illogical.
I would rather like to call them premature and extrapolating.
Personification of thunder (god donar) is just one example.
Extrapolation of the causal chain into time to come is an other one.
I am not sure if those who critcize Einstein for his belief in god are
actually free of likewise unjustified belief in preexisting future time.

How did god become a scientist? You think he read science textbooks and
had a laboratory in heaven? How does a single entity become super
intelligent? Who taught him? I say that a single entity can't do
anything. Many is the way to intelligence. The size and the complexity
of the universe says many is the way. Many stars, many worlds, much
diversity with many chances for intelligence to evolve from that
complexity. With much time for that intelligence to rediscover how the
universe was created by the big bang and repeat the process in a
eternal self creation of the universe and existence. God is not needed
and was never real. Just another fairy tale.

It doesn't matter if he did or not. Even if evidence turns up that
he took communion on his deathbed, that's not a demonstration of the
existence of God, any more than belief in astrology is a demonstration
that the planets intervene in our petty affairs. It takes more than
quoting peoples' opinions on theology to convince those who really want
to know something about the world.
