"The energy loss of a muon in the atmosphere is about 2 GeV and
therefore the muons which contribute to the low energy neutrino flux do
not reach the ground."

Relativists' confessions (on sci.physics.relativity):
"Yes indeed: a low energy muon incident on the top of the earth's
atmosphere will lose energy quickly due to interactions with the air,
will penetrate the atmosphere only a small distance, and will live only
a short time. A high energy muon will lose some of its energy due to
interactions with the air, but will still have a considerable energy
when it reaches the ground, and it will penetrate the ground (perhaps
several kilometers); on average it will live a much longer time than
the low energy muon. Yes, the low energy muon had a shorter "lifetime"
than the high energy muon (both measured by an observer at rest wrt the
earth). Yes, this is NOT due to time dilation."

This is somewhere between badly worded and just
plain wrong wrong. The writer seems to be mixing up
the notions of muon path length and muon lifetime.

So the writer Tom Roberts, the self-appointed relativity hypnotist on
sci.physics.relativity, will be kicked out. Nobody in Einstein's
criminal cult is allowed to pronounce anything which is "plain wrong
wrong" and to mix up "the notions of muon path length and muon
lifetime". Unless the cult gets rid of Tom Roberts and other dangerous
individuals, the world may get rid of the cult.

You are quite right.
These people cannot accept plain logic when it stares at them.
They are typical religious believers.
There is no proof of their theory whatsoever. They circulate false evidence
amongst themselves...It goes round and round in circles till they all end up
believing it...then they try to preach it to others....
None ever questions it because they all desperately want it to be true.

The difference between a preacher and a used car salesman is that the latter's product doesn't fall apart till AFTER the sale.

Indeed a very good description of certain people in this NG! :-)
