Einstein's Dreams Postponed |
Exept for Einstein's zombies, everybody seems to be suspicious of
Divine Albert now:

The Royal Society will soon cancel Einstein's Dreams forever, judging
from some recent developments:

Stanley Eddington whose eclipse expeditions provided observational data
on GR, his work outside GR reveals a Creative Genius. If he was wrong
(and I haven't seen much evidence of that) about GR, then I don't think
that it was intentional.
The British may have been "guilty" of Colonialism, but unlike the
current crop of Islamist Terrorists, they withdrew from their colonies
under the pressure of public opinion. They were and are amenable to
reason to a degree that is difficult to find in history. Colonialism
was a fad begun by France, Portugal, Spain. The U.K. abandoned that
fad and was one of the first nations to do that. The current crop of
faddists in physics and mathematics would do well do imitate them. It
is also possible to disagree without intending malice.

Well said. It is wise not to worship either theory or experiment,
either abstract or concrete, either the past or the present or the
future, either the individual or the plurality, either the leader or
the follower. That doesn't mean that "compromise" between theory and
experiment is correct either. I think that the scientific method
should mention something about the human scientists and their humility
and tranquility and nonmaterialism which includes ethics and knowledge
(outside science it arguably includes spirit) and nonconformity and
non-bureaucracy and nonviolence. Some of these items are surprisingly
similar to the Ten Commandments.
