Does anyone really believe in entropy, that hot things lose heat to
cooler things; until everything will eventually reach a constant
temperature?

Idiot.

Why?
It seemed a reasonable question to me.
The Third Law actually says that heat cannot flow in the opposite direction,
which is not quite the same thing.
I guess when put in this way one would have to add some proviso
for quantum theory, since there is a small but non-zero probability
that heat will flow in the "wrong" direction.
But why did you think it was a stupid question?

Again sHead talks about matters of defined physics as if they were
articles of faith.
Personally, I believe sHead is a boring troll, but then I have much
empirical data to support that belief.
The trolling of sHead is as quantitatively predictable as the
thermodynamics of a heat engine.

Answer the question, deluded illiterate RETARD. Those have negative
VECTOR temperature, which is irrelevant to the subject, a yes or no
question.

Uncle Al effectively disqualified the question by making reference to
well-documented phenomena that lie outside the purview of sHead's
assumptions.
sHead's question only applies in the macroscopic world of classical physics
and in situations wherein the separate bodies involved *can* thermally
equilibrate.
"Vector temperature" is an undefined quantity - it isn't even wrong - it is
simple nonsense.
If you understood what a Boltzmann factor is, you would no have exposed your
own ignorance so blatantly.
Temperature is a scalar statistical quantity, calculated by averaging the
energy states of a large number of similar systems. The population
inversions involved in the examples given by Uncle Al are all physically
described by negative absolute temperatures of electronic or magnetic energy
states. Energy is NOT a vector.

Title: Re: Uncle Al the ***** 17 Jul 2005 05:45:56 AM
They were not assumptions but conditions. Misread at your own risk.
When /can't/ they equilibrate, eventually?
How temperature (spinwise rather than speedwise) and energy (waywise
rather than workwise) are put and written by "authorities" are abuses
of the still-undeveloped and thus-ambiguous mechanical semiotics, that
they would conflate what is essentially a 1-vector--that does no more
than conserve rotations in repeated applications of an arbitrary
operation in the property's output--with a scalar that comes with its
own field that does not associate with the operations represented by
the former. They nonsensically apply positive and negative to spin
temperature, or thermochemical reactions, or to a mechanical state,
when they meant no more than divergent and convergent; and they give
their numbers a + or - sign idiotically rather than to do as the
electricians wisely did for a source and sink, giving them o and x. If
scientists were any stupider, they'd be calling magnetic poles + and -
too. I describe these abuses of scientists within:
http://advancedphysics.org/viewthread.php?tid=1312#pid6915
http://advancedphysics.org/viewthread.php?tid=1416#pid7178.
Sometimes energy /should/ be a vector. Taking only the magnitude loses
information about the states and kinetics. The dot product arbitrarily
drops the direction of both vectors, and is not inherently without a
direction as chosen from the more important factor. The kinetic energy
and momentum expressions are very alike, and it wouldn't suffer anyone
if the former behaved like it had an aim. Otherwise, dumbasses would
put a scalar sign in front of it to look good before the work function
which smokes the same. It's in and out, not less and more!

Title: Re: Uncle Al the ***** 17 Jul 2005 07:13:06 AM
As for the Boltzmann factor, that is irrelevant to my screed. One
would, and should, take the energy as a vector and divide by the
freedom coefficient--which should be another, mean-pointing,
vector--and extract the temperature as a third vector in an arbitrary
direction within the domain described by both vector inputs of the
thermal sample. Such a beast, if wrangled, is a nice step toward a
demon, obfuscated by professional fools who think that averages are not
subjective.

Here's what I think:
Entropy is based on the premise that the sun is cooling off, losing its
energy by radiating heat to cooler objects such as Earth; but the fact
is the sun's energy output is increasing, because it contiuously
creates energy of fusion, and will never burn-out because it has an

The sun is in a 'gravity well'. You know, it curves spacetime, and that
funnels everything into it. That's why its not about to run out of
fuel. You've seen those funnel like machines where you put a coin in
for charity, where the coin goes around and around and eventually drops
to the bottom. Well that's how the sun keeps up its unlimited fuel
supply(;^)
