fastest way to stir sugar into coffee/tea? |
I vaguely remember seeing this topic discussed quite seriously in _New
Scientist_ magazine.
IIRC, they decided that one should make half-circles with the spoon,
but precess the circles.
Anyone got a firmer handle on this?

It depends on the cup:spoon ratio. A teaspoon in a bucket
isn't as efficient as a stoker's coal shovel in a demitasse.

Children, the answer is obvious. Add the sugar to the water before
brewing the coffee.

Okay, then a refinement: only add one sugar-molecule, is optimally mixed
straight away.

Which reminds me of the fact, that sweetness (of coffee)
does not come from sugar,
but from stirring.
The sugar is only there to know, how long.
That fact has been documented many years ago in TV show,
as I try to remember ...

I don't know what it's like in Austria, but in the U.S., commercial powdered
sugar has starch added to prevent caking. The prospective coffee drinker
should probably grind the sugar in a coffee grinder himself.

And how would that be 'faster'?
Personally, I think you could add the sugar to the grounds *before* you
brew the coffee. It will dissolve in the hot water straight away. You
also sugar the whole pot before you even pour, so no time is wasted in
stirring individual cups.

There is/are additives in powdered sugar (talc, I think) in most places.
There is a kind of sugar called baker's sugar (in the US) which is ground
finer than 'regular' sugar, but not as fine as powdered sugar. No
additives that I know of.

First pour the sugar into the cup.
I suppose you could use a spoon to do that.
Then pour in about twice as much coffee
as it takes to just cover the sugar in the cup.
Grab the top of the cup and swirl it until the sugar disolves.
Finish filling the cup with coffee.

Wow, you must be really in a hurry...
I would suggest get rid of the sugar, it only takes a week to get accustomed
to and it saves you a lot of time for the rest of your lifes.

The best part is that I can see exactly when there's no

The fastest method is that of the typical Indian
street corner chai makers. All consituents are
boiled (tea, water, milk and sugar) together
and then refreshingly poured into a cup.

Not half-circles, but figure-8s with liquids and circles
with the stirrer in at a slant with viscous (I think that's
the correct word) mixtures. Watch somebody cooking pudding

What's a remailer? I'm a newbie.
Of course, a photon doesn't have internal structure. It along with

physicists cataloging their properties. You don't look for structure

Drink quality coffee, without sugar. Accompany it with a sweet morsel.
Or, take it like the Vietnamese: With condensed milk, instead of cream
and sugar.
If you work at a university, stay away from the coffee vending machine

Axial (horizontal plane) plus azimuthal (vertical plane) stirring will
do it. Half-cycle reversal adds useful turbulance.
