The High Energy Stereoscopic System (HESS) in Namibia is one of three
projects to share this year's Descartes prize for research. The
prize is awarded annually by the European Union to reward "outstanding
scientific or technological results achieved through trans-national
research". A total of 66 teams entered this year's competition.
