George F.R. Ellis, a professor emeritus in the Department of
Mathematics at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, recently
published two papers (or essays):
(1) Physics, Complexity and Causality, 2005. Nature, 435, p.743 (9 June
2005).
(2) Physics and the Real World, 2005. Physics Today, 58(7), 49-54.
In these papers, he seems to defy causality and gives a mysterious aura
to human "intention" and "creativity", appearing to imply that these
are more than consequences of mere motions of susbtances.
Additionally, Ellis won the 2004 Templeton Prize that carries a cash
value of US$ 1.4 million.
