I m working on a project, at the end ozone(99%) and oxygen(very less)
are produced. i want to know the volume of ozone. i asked this
question, my sister's reply was that there is an instrument named
pressure gauge (cant remember), i am not sure if it can be connected to
a computer and the value can be displayed on a computer.
I felt this was the best place. In india scientists dont know much abt
computers and software/hardware engineers dont know much abt science.
Can anyone help me out, i need to get info on that way of getting the
value of pressure on the computer. i want to know more abt hardware and
also the software used in getting the output on the monitor(computer's
monitor).

A pressure gauge will measure the pressure. If you have a fixed and
known volume, and you know the fraction of ozone (99%), then you can
find the partial pressure and therefore quantity of ozone with the ideal
gas law,
pV=nRT
You probably knew that.
There are many kinds of pressure gauges, which one you choose will
depend in part on what sorts of pressure you will measure, and on the
type of gas. Bourdon tube gauges are purely mechanical. Other types,
like those that measure capacitance with the gas as a dialectric, or
those that measure the quantity of gas by its thermal conductivity, are
usually calibrated for nitrogen or air, but they can be recalibrated.
There's another kind that measures the frictional force on a spinning
ball, which might be more suited to corrosive gasses. They'll need a
controller, which might give you a convenient USB output, might give you
an analog voltage output which needs to run through an ADC before your
computer can make sense of it, or it might give you a simple visual display.
My favorite vendor is Kurt J. Lesker, but I don't know if they operate
in your area. A Google search on "digital pressure gauge" should help
you find what you need. Be sure to check that it's suitable for your
gas and pressure range.

my uncle told me that digital transmitters help in getting the pressure
displayed on the monitor. could i get some info on it.

I would recommend a cable.
Get something like a capacitance gauge and you'll be able to buy a
controller for it with something like a USB output. Plug it directly
into your computer. It should come with drivers that provide a
programming interface. There's nothing to it, except to contact a
vendor, explain your needs, and make a selection and buy it.
Your selection criteria would be:
(1) Pressure range that you are working with.
(2) Precision within your pressure range (what precision do you need?)
(3) Compatibility with your gas (e.g. corrosion resistance).
(4) Calibration for your gas, unless it is a mechanical measurement
like a moving membrane.
Luckily, ozone is commonly used to clean vacuum systems, so they should
have pressure measurement of it pretty well figured out.
There are a number of good companies you could go to. But I've been
very happy working with the Kurt J. Lesker Company, their staff has been
helpful and educational. They have an office in Bangalore.

A "pressure gauge" is what you need. There are many different types
depending on your exact application (temperature, corrosivity, etc.)
and how much pressure you are expecting. Most of them can be
interfaced to a PC/laptop through a serial I/O port, one way or
another.

Careful:
In the US, "pressure gauge" usually gives you a device designed
for measuring pressure in tires.
You probably want a low cost solution. I think you may want
a piezo-electric sensor (voltage output depends on the force
experienced by the sensor). I believe these can be constructed very
cheaply. Any device with a voltage output can be read with
an analog card on a PC. It might even be possible to construct
circuitry to use your sound card for this purpose, but there
you would need the advice of a good electronics engineer as
there are issues of impedance and loading to consider.
Here is one link I found by searching for "PC gas pressure
sensor". It describes a student apparatus using a piezo sensor
to monitor gas pressure.

I am not expert by any means. I'm just guessing, although I
do have (slightly more than zero) experience with data recording
via PC.
