A number of short papers and a practical training course on magnetics
(including magnets and magnetization) are on the G2 Consulting Site:

Enjoy!

Camito I like making magnetic Jello it sticks to the spoon. It also
does not shake as much. It also adds to the flavor. Easy by the way to
make your own magnets. Always store them facing N&S Amazing stainless
steel can not be magnetized. Lines of magnetic force shows how
attraction and repulsion work. Magnetisim and electricity are two sides
to the same coin. Electric motor and generator are two sides to
the same coin. Bert PS the magnetic poles of Earth never flip.

That's an interesting question- How are magnets machined? One of the
documents implied that the magnets are magnetized *after* being machined
and assembled. Is this true?

Very much so, getting the swarf off would be a nightmare otherwise.
