Internet Experiment |
Do you want to play as firm against another firm?
Under
www.game.uni-bonn.de/index
you can find an internet experiment. You can test yourself whether you
are better than the computer or other players. It takes about 5 to 10
minutes.

I haven't played yet (so as not to prejudice the purity of my
commentary ;-), but I wonder if what you are experimenting with the is
alumni news effect -- only the successful are likely to write in. :-)

Great fun!
Round 1 UncleAl, alpha: 10,421 points, 56/96, 553/593 overall. Feh.
Round 2 Xemist, beta: 58,989 points, 7/170, 42/594 overall. Top
7%.
See, intelligence works! One wonders whether training in economics or
game theory would be an advantage or a detriment.

My first and only attempt (nickname "mikehellan") was 57,237 points, 97/627 overall.

Maybe.

Definitely, since you maliciously snipped the balance of my post, to
wit:
Round 2 Xemist, beta: 58,989 points, 7/170, 42/594 overall.
The fellow who comes in second is the first loser. How much did
cheating help you here?

It helped alot. I wanted to see how defensive you'd get and how
willing you'd be to point out something trivial with respect to an
equally trivial game of chance.
This is useful information, because I was wondering why you haven't
taken the time to post the flaws in my theory that you claim exist. My
hypothesis was that you didn't have the time to point out the flaws I
made, but this thread clearly shows that this possible explanation is
not likely.
There must then be some other reason why you refuse to point out the
errors in my paper.

Probably because they smell so much that it is unpleasant to be near them.
