Object: Italian university degrees and entering PhD in USA
Hi,
I'd like to know if, after Italian "laurea" university degree (3
years) it is possible to enter a PhD in USA.
Or must the student do a more +1 year in the US university before
entering the PhD?
This is because I know that B.S. in USA is 4 years (so one year more
than Italian 3 years).
Thanks in advance
.

talk to the school in the USA.
Generally you have to have 6 years before PHD
BS 4 years, MS 2 years = 6 years
PHD takes years too 4 to 6 I think.

This is not true.
A Ph.D. program can be begun directly after completing the
BS program. Depending on the program, the MS may be
earned along the way after completion of initial Ph.D.
qualification.

That's the best advice. Go to the website of the school
you are interested in. Look for "Graduate Admissions" which
will probably be under "Admissions". Follow their instructions.
You will probably have to take at least two exams, the GRE
(academic skills) and the TOEFL (English proficiency).

This will vary from university to university, and probably from
department to department within universities. We have certainly
admitted students with laurea degrees to the UC Davis Physics Ph.D.
program. Your best plan would be to decide which particular places
you are interested in and get in touch directly with the relevant
departments.
