What if most of what we know is just a lie?
I assume you are following your standard of using the royal "we"...
I contemplate factoring and I can't see how intelligent people at the
level that I thought they were before could put that forward as a hard
problem.
So naturally since JSH can't see why, there is no reason?
Since factoring is so easy for you, why don't you factor some of the
RSA challenge numbers for us? That'd shut EVERYONE UP yet you refuse.
Why?
And as our world gets stranger and stranger it occurs to me that maybe
we just don't understand reality the way most think we do.
One simple explanation is interference from some alien species.
Classroom exercise:
How much alcohol must someone consume for this explanation to not only
seem simple, but make sense?
Or maybe just a cosmic destiny which has pinned us to this planet.
But right now, the insistence on endless growth when global warming is
fueled by it, and the bizarre realities of supposedly highly civilized
countries--like my own--fighting stupid wars, say that something is
not right.
IN biological systems, mindless growth is a hallmark of cancer.
Our society is behaving much like a cancerous tumor.
And in my country it has grown enough that it is collapsing the
organism and all I can think is that someone, somewhere is doing this
deliberately.
I can't help but wonder why these inane musings have to be posted to
sci.physics.
Like there is some alien force that is pushing us to extinction but
that is so crazy that there is no hope.
It'd be much simpler to give the occasional mile wide asteroid a
smidgen of delta-v and replicate Yucatan.
No one will believe it. And even if it were true and they did, what
could any of us do?
Maybe we're just out of luck, facing forces way beyond our powers to
stop or even comprehend, who have just decided that our demise as a
species is the best thing for their universe.
And we're just living in their solution.
Again, the royal "we" is in play.
