Those damages you see you have brought upon your f....n heads indeed !
This is simply because you don't know to build correct housing.
Those toys houses blown away in the wind and those others ripped open by
flood water are truly a pitiful sight to behold. ... demonstrating that
people, building such ***** houses indeed, have lost their gift of
anticipation. .
A house should be built for centuries, and in my home village most houses go
back to King Louis the XVI, and are very good to live in.. If you guys don't
know how to build strong & sturdy houses, you should ask some people in
France who know indeed.!
What I find most pathetic and a typical example of No information, Biased
information, & Worthless Over-information are those bawling talkers on CNN,
CBS and elsewhere yapping endlessly about Zhis and Zhat ... and at no time
bringing the issue of the ignorance relative to house building ! Gee, just
like the present fraudulent Geology Theories, the Dudes are swallowed in
the maelstrom of circular referencing, as in alleged Dark Holes, and are
unable to mentally escape to see the matter of importance starring them in
the face.
Stop whining about, bloody stupid sods, what you get you fully deserve

That is really insightful. In one of the towns that suffered wind and
water damage from Hurricane Rita, most of the older houses were not damaged.
But I think the thing we could learn most from France is how to make good

effects of storn surge. This would not keep the water from rising. The storm
surge flows forward with force. What is some sort of grid, vanes, or
baffles, were placed, perhaps just floated, off the coast, that would cause
the waves to split into many different directions, perhaps just turn into a
random froth? Then maybe storm surge wouldn't be so devastating.

to alleviate that kind of melting, and hence huge release of the tepid lake
resulting.
In Holland, they had a immense catastrophe before the present sunk line of

In Venice; worse situation since both the level of sea is rising, like
elsewhere on the planet, but worse, the town is sinking in the Laguna ! ...

I watched quite a bit of French tv coverage of Katrina. And every report
ended with some snide remark about how the US is just like any
other country, needing foreign aid and all. Some knee-jerk socialist
commentator would just crow how this shows the US is no better

enjoyed with this disaster. It says more about your national
inferiority complex than our building codes.

Well if you build houses out of paper, they are easy to replace. Brick and
cinder block will not stand up either to direct storm hits. Even one build
with solid thick granite blocks will have the windows and roof blown off and
fill up with flood waters. So paper is cheaper. Plywood and particle board
is almost paper.

to keep their people safe. They make plans for such events and drill them
into their schoolchildren's heads early.
CNN did not do much coverage of their recent events either.
I think JP T has some point in his remarks.
I've only experienced 100 mph winds twice, in the uk but they didn't make
any impression on my building which has 24 inch thick walls.

I experienced 105 mph winds on Long Island during hurricane Gloria and
they made no impression on my wood-house home. You guys have no
understanding of the resilience of a properly built wood-frame. The
main damage due to hurricanes is caused by water, not wind. People
who build right on water edge take their chances, same as people who
build on canyon slopes in California.

Oh, yes. Tornado is quite a different beast. Have seen those too.
Mind you, brick buildings do not withstand a direct tornado hit
either, and may end up more dangerous to the dwellers, since they
provide more heavy stuff to fall on your head. To handle a serious
tornado you need reinforced concrete.
