i read an interview with lee smolin and he said the theory was
originally defined using" standard techniques of quantum mechanics"
while maintaining background independence and diffeomorphism invariance
from GR. now, here is my question- wouldn't you expect a quantized
space using quantum mechanics as the basis of your idea? maybe this is
the wrong venue for this question, if so, then delete it. in addition
it occurs to me that if every particle with mass carried its own" space
" so that it was the space inherent to the particle that reacted to
spacetime (in effect, background independence ) so that this could be
an avenue towards uniying String Theory and Loop Quantum Gravity.
