low gravity hight speed CPU |
hi
I happened to read a article about how low gravity affect clock rate.
It then occurred to me that if we were to shoot a computer into deep
space,
wouldn't the calculation gets done really fast.
I guess it would still takes time to send the result back.
Would that speed up projects like Folding-At-home considerably?
Is it worthwhile?

It would speed it up very slightly, but not enough to be worth it. The
gravitational potential difference between outer space and the ground
is too small it make any noticeable speedup, certainly not enough to be
useful. To get noticeable levels of time dilation/contraction you need
to
be near neutron stars or black holes.

at most.

Slightly (very very slightly) faster yes, if on top of a mountain for example.
Once you get further away far in space gravity is really low.
I guess it would still takes time to send the result back.

No
Is it worthwhile?
No
But when the world was thrown in a black hole, you, in free space, relative
to them in the hole, would be a LOT faster.
In such a case there are other reasons to want to be in free space :-)
