Object: magnetic levitation
Hey, Im a total non physicist ok, I did well with it at highschool but
that was long ago now. I have an idea, though its not particularly
researched ok so dont be too harsh on me.
I am wondering if its possible to create a polarity across an uneven
surface, like a curved surface which an similarly charged object like a
ball bearing for example could levitate above this surface, kept in
place by the incline but help aloft by the opposing magnetic force.
This creating a non-contacting bearing of sorts. The way i figure you
could spin the bearing and it would be motion without any resistance as
there is no surface contact whatsoever. Would it work? Does anyone even
understand what I am trying to say? Please if anyone knows give me your
thoughts anyway.
Thanks and goodnight for now.
Andy
(by the way if it does work dont steal my idea - as if someone hasnt
thought of it already if it works as with all good ideas)

Already been done. Try here:

Andy Trains have been levitated for years. About 70 years ago
a iron disc was made to spin on top of a magnetic field in a vacuum, and
it is still spinning as I type. Frogs and mice have been
levitated, and that proves just about every object has some magnetisim.
