Mars mission passes key test (Mar 13)
http://physicsweb.org/article/news/10/3/10
On Friday 10 March, scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in
California celebrated the entry of the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO)
into Martian orbit. After travelling some 0.5 billion kilometres since
its launch last August, the spacecraft fired its thrusters and allowed
itself to be captured by Mars' gravity. Assuming the probe's orbit can
be correctly adjusted over the next six months, it should go on to
provide huge amounts of scientific data - more than all the previous
Martian missions combined - in search of evidence that water existed on
the surface of Mars over long periods of time.

Rather late information. That happened 2 days ago.
