Echinacea contains something called aribinogalactin. This substance is
a prebiotic. It is used to feed beneficial intestinal flora that
inhabit the human gut. It is similar to FOS or fructooligsacharides.
The action of feeding our probiotics (such as acidophilus) boosts the
immune system.since the immune system starts in the gut.
