Message in the Sky
Authors: S. Hsu, A. Zee
Subj-class: Popular Physics
We argue that the cosmic microwave background (CMB) provides a
stupendous opportunity for the Creator of our universe (assuming one
exists) to have sent a message to its occupants, using known physics.
The medium for the message is unique. We elaborate on this observation,
noting that it requires only careful adjustment of the fundamental
Lagrangian, but no direct intervention in the subsequent evolution of
the universe.
...............
They calculate that no more than 10^5 bits could be encoded in the
cosmic microwave background radiation. The funniest part is
that they offer a helpful suggestion to the Creator for what
message to send in these bits - the Cartan matrix of the gauge
group of the correct grand unified theory!

Just as long at they don't start using telescope time to look for the

Baez has constructed 16 arrows in the left diagram and 32 in the right
diagram.
Here I've combined the diagrams, reflecting the signal when received.

I'll add without haste: Baez is attempting a confidence trick and is a
lying rogue.
There are some pitfalls for the unwary.
Hey Baez, you phuckwit! I don't care about your copyright. Sue me.

Amusingly, Androcles still has not figured out why this
statement is trivially false, even when given blatant
hints about what false assumption he is making and where
to find out the correct information at the URL in question.

I find it interesting that the presumption is that evidence for design
is to always include both the artifact and a blueprint for the
artifact.
As far as I know, we make no requirements for "signed blueprint" proof
that Mayan artifacts are designed, or that Stonehenge was designed, or
even that stone tools uncovered near carbonized deposits were designed.
In this case, we seem to need more than just the presence of the Cartan
matrix. We seem to need a note saying "Yes, I meant to do that."
