Well, I will reply via google... I had already deleted your post on
my server, but indeed this needs some explanation for the not initiated
in the subject.
The subject of software patents __ in Europe or rather the EU is a HOT
one.
The parliaments of Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark all have
spoken
out AGAINST having software patents here.
(Sorry interruption, have to get pizza). .. well eating it now as it
should
not be cold... anyways the EU commission thought it clever to OVERRIDE
the
majority and proceed on the software patents route this week.
So, pressure from among others Philips and Siemens (yes the ones with
all the
software bugs), and likely some bribes from Bill Gates, maybe the 'back
door
deal' MS pays 500 million Euro ... (multiply by 1.32 for $).. 'things'
happen.
No democracy.
As democracy fails, the only option is force.
Because I (and many others, most of the whole IT here, except the
multinationals) do not want something like:
for(i = 0; i < 100; i++) to be patented for values of i from 10 to 100
and other idiotic stuff, so that you will have to write
for(i = 101; i < a + 101; i++) { array[ i - 101] = a; a++ } to get
around that
patent.
We need no scumbag US law system here, we are ahead of the US in the
IT, and
want to keep it that way AND our freedom.
Your US can bribe, you can blackmail, but I will not give you > 15
years of
software development without a fight, a REAL fight if need be.
I give you thermonuclear war.
Hope it is more clear to you now :-)

Yes
google avi to DVD linux

I am sure if you leave out 'linux' you will also find programs for MS windows
victims.
Personally I only go from mpeg2 to AVI.
Linux transcode could to be an other option.
