Hey guys, I'm wondering if you could help me understand nuclear spin.
Apparently 5B10 has spin 3+. I'm confused as to why this is - does that
mean there are 6 unpaired nucleons? There are 3 protons and 3 neutrons
sitting in the 1p state with j=3/2, so are these the 6 nucleons that
add to the total spin? And if they are, why aren't some of them paired
off?
Or am I completely missing the point?
