I believe that Torsion is required to understand physical systems, but
how it is to effect metric (a symmetric entity) is beyond me.
Simple. See http://qedcorp.com/APS/zpf2005.pdf
The basic equations of metric engineering are
Einstein's field equation for exotic vacuum
Guv + /\zpfguv = 0
Josephson effect for vacuum ODLRO
/\zpf ~ (Vacuum ODLRO Coherence Length)^-1(Control ODLRO Coherence
Length)^-1 cos(Vacuum Phase - Control Phase)
My discovery
B = (hG/c^3)^1/2d(Vacuum Phase)
with "Abrikosov phase jump branch cuts, Dirac strings, multi-valued
gauge transformations"
e = 1 + B is Einstein-Cartan tetrad 1-form
W = spin connection 1-form
Torsion 2-form is T = de + W/\e
Curvature 2-form is R = dW + W/\W
Enter "Shipov Torsion Field" where T =/= 0
If T = 0 as in 1915 GR then Bianchi identities are
dR + W/\R = 0 like dF = 0 in Maxwell EM
i.e.
Guv^;v = 0
this implies
/\zpf^,v = 0
However when T =/= 0 then /\zpf,^v =/= 0 is allowed!

I have attached two pdf files that express my views about the necessity
of torsion, although I
do not believe that affine torsion is the final word. My argument is
based on topological torsion - which can be different from Frenet
torsion and Affine torsion. (The second attachment is about Frenet
methods and the differenences between topological and Frenet torsion.
It comprises chapter 2 of my 3rd book http://www.lulu.com/kiehn )
**
The first attachment is a new article, still in draft form, that
demonstrates that (macroscopic) orientable Spinors are artifacts of non
equilibrium systems; ... non equilibrium systems, on thermodynamic
grounds, require the existence of topological torsion.
Non Orientable Spinors are the topic of another article that I am writng.
*
The article also demonstrates my opinion that the obsession of physics
with symmetric objects, such as stress, strain, metric, torsion free
connections and symmetries cannot be used to describe dynamical systems
that are far from equilibrium.
