OT Public Service Message |
My love for the open-source community is deeper and broader than
ever.
As a Google Groups user I've been handicapped in that it has no
built-in killfile capability, but fortunately I use Firefox.
Recently I discovered this:
http://www.penney.org/ggkiller.html
You'll need to go to mozilla.com and get and install Greasemonkey,
then reload Firefox (don't worry, it reopens all the tabs/pages you
had open), then install ggkiller. Open your favorite group and next to
every poster's name there's a link to killfile them.
Mind you I'm never going to be a scriptkiddy, and this worked
totally painlessly for me.
Sci.physics is so much more pleasant now. ;>)
BTW obligatory disclaimer; I'm not affiliated, didn't write any of
the software, make no guarantees, accept no responsibility, YMMV,
close cover before striking.

You don't understand. You only short-changed yourself.
Under more clear circumstances, the ones I can imagine
and see them and you can't, you would give your blood
to see even a trashiest meaningless message to make it
into this spot.

You don't imagine I'd killfile _you_, do you?
I'm extremely reluctant to killfile anybody; so far I've only
included Androcles, Jeff Relf, and Pentcho Valev and it is reversible
at any time.
I do not reject dissent or lively debate. I do reject Androcles'
tendency to tiresome repetitive abuse without what I consider adequate
informative leavening. In Relf's case I am thoroughly disgusted with
his refusal to understand that his children's welfare is _his_
responsibility, ever and always. Valev ignores replies and has drawn
an annoying pest from elsewhere that does ugly things to my browser.
Yes, of course these are my selfish reasons, but it's _my_ killfile.
Anyone who wants to killfile me is entirely free to do so for whatever
reasons they think applicable.
Under more clear circumstances, the ones I can imagine
and see them and you can't, you would give your blood

Unfortunately I have only so much time, and there are so few gems to
be found in the mountains of dross certain posters spew.
If you have time enough to scan their output for items you might
find valuable by all means forge ahead.
FTM I often wonder why you haven't killfiled me for challenging your
(IMO) limited worldview. Read Rushdie yet?
BTW arrogance doesn't dissuade me either. ;>)
