Uncle Al had a physics TA, Dr. Horace Ming Ma, who proved on the
blackboard that a spinning solid copper sphere whose spin axis was
parallel to a uniform magnetic field would spontaneously accelerate
its rotation to larger numbers (presumably without limit). Can't get
more fundamental than that. One wonders why China is adding an
additional gigawatt of coal-fired electricity generation each week.
