Principles of Zombie Cults |
1. The Principle of Maximum Miraculousness. The demostration of
miracles paralyses the rationality of ordinary members, increases love
in their hearts and converts the initiated into gods. Miracles are
usually corollaries of false axioms. In thermodynamics, the miracle
"All reversible machines working between the same two temperatures have
the same efficiency" is a corollary of the false axiom "Heat is an
indestructible substance". The miracle "Entropy always increases" is a
corollary of the oxymoron "Any irreversible transition from A to B can
be closed into a cycle by a reversible transition from B to A". In the
theory of relativity, most (but not all) miracles, e.g. reciprocal time
dilation, reciprocal length contraction, conversion of time into space
and vice versa, are corollaries of the false axiom "The speed of light
is constant".
2. The Principle of Maximum Absurdity. The application of this
principle paralyses further the rationality of ordinary members and
increases the mystical power of the initiated. Usually the initiated
produce an assertion and then introduce the negation of this assertion.
Ordinary members learn how to defend both.
3. The Principle of Maximum Mutation. Any theory or concept should be
replaced in the end; otherwise criticisms may prevail. The speed of
light is variable, not constant (A. Einstein, "Relativity", Chapter
22), but the transition from the special to the general theory of
relativity resolves the problem. There is no point in criticising
classical thermodynamics since it is obsolete (

replaced by modern statistical thermodynamics. There is no point in
criticising even the theory of relativity since the initiated are going
to dissolve it in the height of fashion: the theory of strings (

Such as parrotting research from early years, when metrology was
poor, yet later repeats of these experiments failed to show any
result? Looks like you are looking for mystery yourself.
