Quantum Gravity 170.4: Solitons and Wormholes by Sergiu I. Vacaru of Spain, Who is Mostly Outside of Spain |
From Osher Doctorow
One of the most prolific authors of Soliton papers and sometimes
Wormhole papers is Sergiu I. Vacaru (83 papers in arXiv, many of which
involve anisotropic and/or anholonomic scenarios). Vacaru's "home" is
difficult to pin down because he gets so many Visiting Professor and
travel grants that according to his papers he seems to be almost
always visiting Portugal, Canada, Moldova, Romania, USA (including
California State University Fresno!) etc., although his home may
technically be in Consejo Superior de Investigeinos Cientificas Spain.
One of his most surprising papers was coauthored with D. Singleton at
CSU Fresno California USA, "Warped, anisotropic wormhole/soliton
configurations in vacuum 5D gravity," arXiv: hep-th/0111045 v1 6 Nov
2001, which among other things points out that certain solitonic type
solutions might be interpreted as models for particles analogous to 't
Hooft-Polyakov monopoles but in the context of gravity or as nonlinear
anisotropic gravity waves.
The basic idea of anholonomic frames (used in the above cited paper)
is diagonalizing metrics, which in holonomic coordinate frames would
have off-diagonal components. The authors go beyond the Randall-
Sundrum model which led to unstable solutions and so on. They get
Solitonically deformed Wormholes and flux tube solutions and combine
Solitonic solutions with electric/magnetic charged Wormhole and flux
tube solutions to yield vacuum solution w anisotropic deformations and
anisotropic electric-magnetic dependence.
