From Osher Doctorow
Remember that ww* = /w/^2 = Probability where w is the Schrodinger
equation wave function, and since we have the analogy between a + b
sqrt(n) and a + ib for fixed n, let's regard sqrt(n) analogously to w
and so (sqrt(n))^2 = n is analogous to /w/^2. We then have shown:
1) 1 + sqrt(2) = Silver number (generates Pell numbers)
2) 1 + sqrt(4) is generated by P ' (A-->B) = P(B) ("perfect target or
perfectly deterministic PI up to set/events of measure 0)
3) (1 + sqrt(5))/2 = Golden ratio (generates Fibonacci numbers)
are all related to each other and to the Langlands Program and, e.g.,
Quantum Theory, and now summing the n quantities from sqrt(n):
4) 2 + 4 + 5 = 11 (Superstring dimensions)
The 4 automatically suggest to us 4-dimensional spacetime, the 2
suggest to us the "5th force" from the bulk perpendicular to the brane
(gravitation more or less) and its "inverse" (expansive force) in
Randall-Sundrum and similar brane theories, and the question is what
the 5 represents in 2 + 4 + 5.
I'll try to return to this shortly.
