I think this is probably a sensible approach. You could also ask that the
safety training film for employees working with HF be shown to all the
workers who will be in proximity to it. Without the right training people
ignore tiny HF spills and then suffer very badly for it later on.
(and having a floor awash with 55 gallons would not be a small spill)
I don't know about in the US but the UK HF is among a handful of safety
films that is expected to cause casualties when it is shown to an audience
of more than a dozen. HF injuries really are so nasty that someone always
passes out - even big tough hairy welders.

My boss's boss just told me he has started an e-mail trail. - and he's
pissed - it's being wheeled right past his office door and he mentioned the
ARC cleaning crew mopping up HF.
The group I work in is like a small bubble of sanity in a Dilbert world - The
HF is for another group.
The safety officer has not provided any response for training requests from
the people who will work with the stuff - I'll suggest they send e-mails to
that effect- I don't think our safety officer understands the full extent of
the problem nor would he bother to look it up..
The safety officer needs firing then.
HF safety training should be mandatory for anyone that will actually work with
the stuff. There have been too many very nasty accidents with it - some of
which could have been avoided by proper training.

No earthquake required, Texas City has a major industrial accident about
every 2 years.
The HF leak was about 12 years ago. After it happened, I drove around and
followed what it did to the trees.
Think it was the Amoco plant.
Another TC accident was the release of a Sulfur oxide gas, it combined with
the humidity and turned the lead based white houses all black near the
plant.
That was fun too. They eventually tore down all the houses near the plants.
(Monsanto)
Amoco used to have two huge old cement tanks, each about 250 feet across,
and 6 stories high, filled with liquid Ammonia, but they finally got rid of
them. That would have been fun too.
