Any itching near the site of the injection? (allergic reaction)
Any "red lines" leading from the site up towards your body? (blood
poisoning)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenol
[333]
there was some blood in syringe when it happened
so it may have got inside the nerve.. and my
fingers are red like no circulation is getting to them,
does any have any suggetions on what i can do ?
the doctor i saw down here in Peru was useless.

I'd massage the area gently. Have someone watch for the signs of
overdose (the link above).
Try a different doctor. Get your affairs in order.

That's a bit of an unethical answer. Before you panic the guy about an
OD, you might want to find and give him the LD50, which is quite high--for
injections, it's on the order of about 0.5 g/kg.
http://physchem.ox.ac.uk/MSDS/EU/eugenol.html
To calibrate, for an average adult male (180 lb), that's about a 40 mL
injection of pure eugenol. I would like the meet the person who can stand
anything within two orders of magnitude of 40 mL of a moderately viscous
organic liquid injected right into his knuckle. I'd probably kick the
injector in the nuts after about 0.1 mL.
For the OP, eugenol is a phenol, and it is probably moderately toxic to
cells. It is an irritant, and the MSDS says it can cause nerve damage.
Depending on the amount injected, the damage may be only in the finger,
all through the arm, or worse. It's not very water-soluble, so if you had
it injected pure, there might be a slug of neat eugenol floating around in
your blood stream, slowly dissolving and slowly absorbing into tissues.
Unless you had a dose of more than 4 mL of pure eugenol, I wouldn't worry
about dying, but you might very well get pretty sick. The advice to see a
good doctor wise.

I go essentially along with the opinions of the two responders above
and with the patients own judgment. I might add that the Eugenol
structure lends itself to exhibit some COX-1 and COX-2 activity and
acts as an NSAID, like Ibuprofen. AFA the complaints of pain by
the OP is concerned, there is the possibility that the pain originated
from the way the Dr. injected him. Drs often move the needle around
to disperse the injectorate and in that process do scrape and poke
and damage the sensitive cartilage/skin that covers the bones. With
pain already present in the hand to begin, the additional scrape
trauma from the syringe needle will cause excruciating pain that may
last for weeks.
Remember, all doctors are nothing but educated butchers who are
after your money. == Smitty!: your final sentence was gauche but funny.

there is no US approved version for injectable eugenol and should not be
used internally.
It is primary component of Oil of Cloves, an aromatic. Nasty stuff.
Good for experimentation on animals, like your neighbor's cat.
Lawsuit time if a Dr injected you with that crap.

Here is the US, yes. But OP 333 said above that this happened to
him in Peru, perhaps with a "Curandero" and not an MD USA style.
BTW, AFA much better things, it all depends on the diagnosis and
the responsiveness of the patient. There are no guaranteed cures.
Worse: Even if the Dr. cures you, you'll never know whether "it" would
have healed also all by itself without any Dr's involvement. Rock/Hard
place. The final curse (which Androcles so elegantly illuminated in one
of his posts in == Re: Cancer & "Rotational Field Nuclear Quantum
Magnetic Resonance == ) is that no matter how many life extension
life saving cures we invent we'll be kicking it, unavoidably.
But what galls me is to hear from many, many, especially from the poor
elderly patients how few and little Drs do take care of their excruciating
pains effectively, because of the Drs fear from the DEA about dispensing
narcotics and from the lure for kickbacks from the Pharma boys to sell their
costly pills instead of, for instance, the cheap afforabable Fentanyl
lollypops.
It gets even worse: I was recently back in the States in a large
metropolitan
city. I saw an old woman emptying ashtrays and collecting the butts. When
asked she told me that she and her hubby could not afford the meds nor
the Dr, so she soaks cigarette butts in cheap vodka and uses that juice as
a pain liniment. "Works great she said with a faint smile"... True, even
topical, Nicotine is almost two magnitudes more effective in analgesic
performance than is morphine. == True also and even more disgusting is
that "The richest and greatest nation" does not have the political will to
ameliorate the pain of its elderly, the very people who have paid taxes all
their life long to bring it to that level of "Grandeur"... But then... no
good
deed ever goes unpunished... Hey, I didn't make this world. I only have
to dance in this fucking place... ahahahaha... ahahahahanson
